Physica curiosa

Gaspar Schott (1608–1666) was a German Jesuit scientist, a colleague of the great polymath Athanasius Kircher. He was engaged first of all in natural sciences. His works mainly contain compilations of reports, articles or books he read and his own repeated experiments. His book entitled Physica curiosa (Würzburg, 1667), written about monsters, miraculous creatures, animals and meteors, is a characteristic representative of pre-Linnean scientific works.
