History of the fall: A stone fell after twofold detonation to the yard of István Szedorek. The meteorite broke to pieces. József Pöschl, local inspector of forest obtained a larger (7 lbs 3 1/8 oz = 4030 g) and a smaller (7 oz = 120 g) fragment, and sent the larger one to his brother, Károly Pöschl, retired major and passionate mineral collector at Gyõr. The Vienna museum (now Natural History Museum) received a 7.75 oz piece from Mr Berghoffer, clerk of the Viennese court. According to its first describer, Franz Leydolt, the original size was a four-sided pyramid of 10 inches (25 cm) height and of 10 to 12 lbs (16 kg) weight.
