History of the fall: János Somlyódy, chief constable at Nyíracsád, observed a wide stripe of fire on the sky and heard 7 to 9 detonations a few minutes after its extinction. He managed to acquire a stone that fell in the vicinity of Nyírábrány, and sent it to the Nyíregyháza Museum (now kept in the Rudabánya Museum).
