History: In an official military report sent by Count Friedrich Veterani to Emperor Leopold I on April 20, 1692 a brief note of Count Otto Ferdinand Auersperg, head of the Austrian imperial troops blockading the fortress of Várad (Wardein, now Oradea in Romania) was included about a fireball that exploded above Oradea and fell in a nearby forest. This fall was also reported but misdated to April 9 and misplaced to “Temeswar” (Temesvár, now Timișoara, ROM) by Chladni in 1819.
